1) What is the clip about:
It is about the story of Anna who because of her Father’s boasting is ordered by the King to spin straw into gold or face death. Things take a surprising turn when a dwarf agrees to help her, at a price. Having promised her first-born child to the dwarf, and unwilling to part with it, will she finds herself having to play a guessing game, to figure the name of the dwarf Rumplestlitskin.

2) Who would you be depicting in this story? :
You are writing this journal entry as Anna, the miller’s daughter. Describe the sequence of events that took place and use the guiding questions to interject your characters thoughts and feelings throughout the journal entry.

3) Where did this adventure take place? :
Describe your surroundings and the people in it.

              The structure of the entry
          Introduction
·         Start by introducing yourself and the scene (setting)
You are encouraged to be creative about your opening. For instance, you may start as an old woman remembering her past or as a matured queen who is asked by the son why boasting is bad, hence triggering the memory.

Body
·         Describe the sequence of events according to the video adding in the characters thoughts wherever possible.
·         You are to change the direct speech in the video into a sentence with a passive voice
·         Include descriptions of the setting and people in the body as well
·         You may state what another character has said or done but do not write from that characters point of view as this is Anna’s journal entry.

Conclusion
·         This part should tie up your entire journal entry.
(It would be ideal if you could end with the lesson learnt.)

Thinking questions
To be able to write beyond what your character says in the video, try answering some of these questions and incorporating the answers in your journal entry.
Who are you and where do you live?
How do you feel about your father boasting about your talents?
Why were you summoned to the palace and when did you find out why?
How would you describe the palace and the King?
What happened when you were called forth by the King? What did the King say to you?
Where were you locked up? How would you describe this place? What thoughts feelings did you experience when you when you were locked up?
What did the dwarf ask/say to you and what did you think about his proposal? Did you trust him? If you did, why?
How did you feel when you saw all the straw turned to gold on both occasions and when you saw the dwarf again after a year?
On the third night, could there have been something else you could have promised the dwarf instead of your first born child?
What lesson have you learnt never to repeat?

Higher order thinking bonus questions:
You will be given bonus points if you are able to produce logical answers to these following questions.
Being the queen, you have asked your messengers, foresters and huntsmen to find out the name of the dwarf. Does this mean you told the king the truth?
Why do you think the greedy King had not asked the queen to spin straw into gold again?
Did you marry the King willingly considering he had ordered for your death had you not be able to spin straw into gold.
